Environmental Quality

1. Ambient air environment quality
City ambient air environment quality was up to the second level of National “Ambient Air Quality Standard”(NAAQS).

Downtown Area:
There were 345 days evaluated as good-air quality (defined when the city's air quality index reaches Grade II or better), and good-air quality rate was 94.5%. The average API of the month was 67.5, the main pollutants was PM10.
The daily average of SO2 was 0.001~0.091mg/m3, and the annul average of SO2 was 0.020mg/m3. The daily average of NO2 was 0.002~0.087mg/m3, and the annul average of NO2 was 0.026mg/m3. The daily average of inhalable particulate was 0.023~0.342mg/m3, and the annul average of inhalable particulate was 0.086mg/m3. The annual average amount of dust citywide was 8.43 ton/km2 per month. The average pH value of precipitation was 5.54~7.18, the annul average was 6.16 and the occurrence of acid rain was 1.7%.

Counties:

Wuhu County: The annul average of SO2 was 0.029mg/m3,the annul average of NO2 was 0.023mg/m3 and the annul average of inhalable particulate was 0.113mg/m3. The air quality met grade II of NAAQS.

Fanchang County: The annul average of SO2 was 0.077mg/m3, the annul average of NO2 was 0.031mg/m3 and the annul average of inhalable particulate was 0.64mg/m3. The air quality met grade II of NAAQS.

Nanling county: The annul average of SO2 was 0.03mg/m3, the annul average of NO2 was 0.016mg/m3 and the annul average of total suspended pollutants was 0.10mg/m3. The air quality met grade II of NAAQS.

2. Water Environment
Wuhu segment of Yangtze River: met grade II of National “Environmental Quality Standard for Surface Water” (NEQSSW). The ten main values were as below:
DO was 6.92~11.09 mg/L and annual average was 8.39 mg/L;
Index of KMnO4 was 2.75~3.18 mg/L and annual average was 3.10 mg/L;
NH3-N was 0.046~0.278 mg/L and annual average was 0.204 mg/L;
The value of total Hg, As,Cr6+,Pb,Cd met the grade II of NEQSSW.

Wuhu segment of Qingyijiang River: met the grade Ⅲ of NEQSSW.
Zhangtang Lake: up to National Standards for Irrigation Water Quality;
Liantang Lake: up to National Water Quality Standard for Fisheries;
Dingtang Lake and Jinghu Lake: met the grade of National Water Quality Standard for Scenery and Recreation Area

3. Ambient Acoustic Environment
The equivalent sound level of main traffic noise and the annual average value were 64.4~71.9 dB(A) and 67.4 dB(A). The monitoring 18 roads data showed that the average equivalent sound level above 70 dB (A) accounting for 7.1%. The equivalent sound level of urban area and the annual average value were 51.8~56.2 dB (A) and 54.5 dB (A). Noise of the functional area was compliant with country requirement.

Emission of Wastewater, Exhaust gas and industrial solid waste
1. Wastewater
83.91 million tons of wastewater was discharged, of which 34.67 million tons from industrial emission.
49.24 million tons of sewage was emitted, of which there was 46,419 tons of chemical oxygen demand (COD). 15,305 tons of the COD was from industrial discharges and 31,114 tons from life discharge.
2. Exhaust gas
Total exhausted gas was 69.4 billion normal cubic meters, of which, 26.2 billions from fuel combustion and 43.2 billions from process.
Emission of sulfur dioxide was 40,336 tons, of which 38,576 tons from industrial emission.
Emission of dust was 9,265 tons, of which 8,705.
3. Industrial solid waste
Yield of industrial solid waste was 1.6576 million tons. The comprehensive utilization of which was up to 159.06 million tons. The comprehensive utilization rate of industrial solid waste was 95.96%.

Eco-environment Reservation and Construction
Total area of Wuhu City is 3317 square Km with plantation of 83699 hectares, forest of 77027 hectares, and the natural reservation area is 38093 hectares.
The area of Maren province-class forest park located in Fanchang Country is 200 hectares.
The area of Xishan scenic spot located in Nanling Country is 2000 hectares.
The area of the Yangtze alligator natural protection zone, distributed along the sides of the banks of Zhanghe River and Qingyijiang River, is 2553 hectares.
The areas of Heping forest park and Taoxin water-rhyme, which are located in Wuhu Country, are 10140 hectares totally.
The rate of forest cover is up to 28.7%. The rate of natural protection zones is up to 11.5%.
